What size of duvet do you need?
The size of your duvet & duvet cover is best chosen according to your mattress.
Step 1: What is your mattress size?
- Standard single bed: 90 x 200 cm
- Queen-size bed: 120 x 200 cm or 140 x 200 cm
- Standard double bed: 160 x 200 cm or 180 x 200 cm
Do you have 2 separate mattresses on your double bed? Then you probably have 2 that are 90 cm wide.
The choice of size often depends on personal preference: do you like to have a lot of space or do you prefer to lie closer together?
Of course, the space you have in the bedroom also plays a role.
Step 2: What size duvet is best for your bed?
Single bed
For a mattress with a width of 90 cm, you should choose a duvet that measures
140 x 200 cm.
Queen-size bed
For a queen-size bed, you should choose a duvet with that measures 200 x 200 cm.
Double bed
With a double bed, there are several options, depending on personal preference.
If your bed measures 160 x 200 cm or 180 x 200 cm, a duvet that measures
240 x 220 cm is certainly big enough.
However, some people find that this is too small for a 180 x 200 cm bed.
Therefore there are also larger duvets. There are different variations of these, such as 260 x 240 cm or 270 x 220 cm duvets.
These sizes vary from one shop or manufacturer to another. So be aware that these
are not standard sizes.
Double bed, each with its own duvet
Some couples choose to use 2 separate duvets.
These are the 140 x 200 cm duvets.
No more arguments about who takes the blankets too much.
Step 3: Choose your mattress protector, fitted sheet and duvet cover
Choose a duvet cover
The sizes of duvets and duvet covers correspond exactly.
With the duvet covers, you may see the addition of +2x (65 x 65 cm), which refers to the pillowcases that come with them.
E.g. duvet 140 x 200 cm ➡ duvet cover 140 x 200 cm
Find the right mattress protector and fitted sheet
Choose a mattress protector and fitted sheet of the same size as your mattress.
When doing so, make sure you also look at the height of the product.
